Au détour d'un objet...

CHICAGO MODEL with dimmer

It was after I bought a Chicago Touchlock Station metal box in a flea market in Brooklyn, which was used by Metro controllers in the 1940s, to design the "Chicago" model. Inspired by this box, I imagined this lamp, immersed in the atmosphere of the metro of those years, the strident sound, the rail iron, the metal pillars, and the lighting of the tungsten filament bulbs very present in these years there.

I then wanted to decline this creation with many objects found here and there or entrusted by customers, a way to highlight a specific object, fetish or family, a story, a symbol, a passion: a an old camera for one, an old collectible toy, a 30s Bugatti Jaeger pendulum, a microphone, an airplane altimeter for another ... Each lamp is thus unique and personal.

For the creation of this model, I imagined a lamp that can have two different shapes depending on the angle of view.

On one side the perspective of a square of light, and on the other, a luminous corridor that takes us far into the imagination ...

This square of light is to put on a console, a desk, a coffee table or a bedside table, equipped with a dimmer for a cozy or more enlightened atmosphere.

An idea ?

This guy at the head of light bulb was imagined from some pieces of iron that I found in a flea market. By putting these two "z" in inversion I thought about the body then adding on each side two brackets for the legs and the feet I could weld together all and create the model "IDEE".

From a high-voltage line insulator to The UFO Lamp ...

We never know how our imagination works, this association of ideas that is born at the sight of an object, its appearance, its color, its shape. It was when I saw a high-voltage line isolator that I imagined it as a flying saucer that would float in a metal structure, held by cables .... but not electric.

From two cookie cutters in MANHATTAN at night ...

It was by looking at the shape of two leather cookie cutters that I thought of that moment when I was walking in Manhattan at dusk.

While walking, I raised my head to watch the lights of the buildings light up one after the other to replace the light of the day ....

This luminous vertigo, I wanted to reproduce it through this model while verticality ....

Lamp "Fireworks" (Custom height)

Different sizes of stems to plant in a pot for a bouquet of light effect.
One summer evening, on a beach, a firework over the sea.
Streamers rise in the sky ... want to recreate these sparks of lights ...
